Biography
Rebecca Caine was born in Toronto and studied at the Guildhall School of Music, London.
Uniquely, her career has been divided between Opera and Musical Theatre, making her West End debut at 19 in the role of Laurey in Oklahoma! She then sang the role of Eliza in My Fair Lady on the National tour. While making her debut at Glyndebourne as Amor in L'incoronazione di Poppea, she was asked to join the Royal Shakespeare Company where she created the role of Cosette in Les Miserables. After a successful West End run she joined the original cast of Phantom of the Opera to play Christine opposite Michael Crawford. She then returned to Toronto to repeat the role in the Canadian premiere of Phantom of the Opera. During her run in Toronto she joined the Canadian Opera Company to make her highly praised North American debut in the title role of Lulu.

Miss Caine’s broadcasts for Radio 3 include Candide, One Touch of Venus, Trouble in Tahiti, The Telephone, Friday Night is Music Night and concerts of Bernstein, Porter and Kern.
Her extensive cabaret career has included Jermyn Street, the Pheasantry, Lauderdale House, Sydmonton, (Newbury Spring Festival), Exeter Festival, Cliveden, Theatre Barn and the Buxton Festival. She made her US cabaret debut at the Halsted Centre in Chicago and gave the first performance at the new Telus recital hall at the Royal College of Music in Toronto. Miss Caine was honoured to give the Noel Coward Birthday Cabaret at Drury Lane and regularly tours Canada in recital with Robert Kortgaard.
Miss Caine has sung in concert with the Orquesta Sinfonia de Barcelona, The Hague Philharmonic (Lulu Suite under Daniel Harding), Toronto Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Scottish Chamber Orchestra , Liverpool Philharmonic and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Her recordings are Les Miserables (original British cast), The Phantom of The Opera (Canadian album), Anything Goes, Future Sound of London, (Everyone is Doing Something Without Me) Babes in Toyland and Mr Emmett Takes A Walk.
Recent stage work includes Lady Raeburn in Tete a Tete's Salad Days at The Riverside Studios, Elsa in The Sound of Music at Kilworth House Theatre, Lady Vale in Darling of The Day at The Union Theatre, London. Katisha in the Mikado at Charing Cross Theatre, London. The Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music in Beirut, Lebanon.
Rebecca recently made her straight acting debut as Raquel De Angelis in Living on Love at The Asolo Rep, Sarasota, created the roles of Lady Dant/Madame Colbert in the World Premiere of Flowers For Mrs Harris at the Sheffield Crucible and starred as the Mother Abbess in the UK tour of The Sound of Music and played opposite Sheila Hancock as Helen Chasen in Harold and Maude at the Charing Cross Theatre.
2019 included Mother Abbess in Cyprus, originating the role of Dahl in the UK premiere of Dave Malloy’s Preludes at the Southwark Playhouse and creating the role of Iris Robinson in Conor Mitchell’s new opera Abomination for the Belfast Ensemble.
